Wilsonton Shopping Centre Expansion takes shape

Construction has commenced on the second stage of a major $25 million redevelopment of Toowoomba’s Wilsonton Shopping Centre featuring 7-Eleven and Starbucks following the demolition of empty buildings onsite.

Wilsonton Shopping Centre owners Consolidated Properties Group and CVS Lane Capital Partners received approval in July for operational works, paving the way for construction to start on the corner site at Bridge Street (Warrego Highway) and Richmond Drive.

The second stage adds 2163sq m of floorspace to the centre and includes anchors 7-Eleven service station and a drive-through Starbucks as well as a modern 24-hour car wash facility.

Consolidated Properties Group CEO & Chairman, Don O’Rorke, said the second stage will progress quickly once in-ground and civil works are completed on site.

“The carwash, which continues to operate through construction, will be the first to open its new premises including a new four-bay carwash with detailing bays and dog wash,” he said.

“Both the carwash and 7-Eleven are due to be finished by the end of the year with Starbucks, a restaurant and specialties set to follow early next year. Terms have also been agreed with a large national tenant, with an announcement expected soon regarding the exciting new addition to the project.

“This expansion is a significant development for Wilsonton Shopping Centre and will greatly add to its attractiveness for shoppers and tenants alike.”

CPG and CVS Lane bought the centre in 2018 and immediately launched a $20 million upgrade, which included an outdoor dining precinct and improvements to the mall and centre façade.

The expansion comes as CPG and CVS launch a sale campaign for its jointly-owned five neighbourhood shopping centres in southeast Queensland, comprised of Wilsonton Shopping Centre, Arndale Shopping Centre, Pavilions Palm Beach, Great Western Super Centre in Keperra and Karalee Shopping Village.
